Courses
Most entrepreneurship courses are available to students from any discipline:
EXPERIENTIAL TRACK: The ELE 301/401 sequence focuses on individual initiative and learning through experiences.
PLANNING TRACK: The ELE 314/315 sequence focuses on the process of developing a structured new venture plan.
SPECIAL COURSES:
FOUNDATIONS TRACK: The ELE 356/321 sequence focuses on the economic and social science foundations for entrepreneurship.
- ELE 301 - Executive Leadership and Entrepreneurship I seeks to create an appreciation of the opportunities and uncertainties in an entrepreneur's life through extensive readings and interactions with entrepreneurs.
- ELE 401 - Executive Leadership and Entrepreneurship II (prerequisite - ELE 301). ELE 401 is a continuation of ELE 301 with extensive use of a computer simulated business start-up.
- ELE 314 (MKT 314) - New Venture Creation I provides students with an opportunity to design their own new business startup. Students participate in creativity exercises and learn how to perform a market opportunity analysis.
- ELE 315 (MGT 315) - New Venture Creation II(prerequisite - ELE 314) allows students to take their market opportunity analysis from 314 and develop it into a full new venture plan.
- ELE 400 - Technology Entrepreneurship provides an introduction to technology-based entrepreneurship for undergraduate students in engineering and science majors.
- ELE 499 – Executive Leadership and Entrepreneurship III provides an opportunity for high potential students to participate in an entrepreneurial field experience such as starting their own businesses or participating in a special project. By recommendation only.
- ELE 356 (SOC 356) - Social Science of Entrepreneurship is team-taught by faculty from sociology, psychology, and political science as an exploration of entrepreneurship from the social science perspective.
- ELE 321 (ECON 321)-Economics of Innovation examines the nature of entrepreneurship and the contribution of innovation to economic growth.
