Washington, DC Semester Internship Programs

The College of Business and Behavioral Science (CBBS) offers several programs for students to spend a semester in Washington, DC with an internship. These semester and summer programs are for all CBBS majors. Some scholarships are available and scholarship/financial aid may apply.

The Fund for American Studies Program Through Georgetown University

The Fund for American Studies offers participants 12 credit hours which includes a six hour internship seminar. Students are enrolled as full-time students at Georgetown University.

  • Theories of Constitutional Interpretation, Govt 408
  • Economics and Public Policy Problems, Econ 219
  • Internship Seminar (Govt 241, CU Equivalent – Internship Class in Major and/or Special Topics)

The program will also place student in internships such as in a Congressional office, public policy organization or company depending on students’ interest and abilities.

American University Washington Semester Program

As a member institution, through American University, the Washington Semester Program offers a semester internship program in 13 different areas depending on your field of interest with credit hours ranging from 12 – 16 hours depending on your choice of program.

Some of the specific programs available are:

  • International Business and Trade
  • American Politics
  • Economic Policy
  • International Environment and Development
  • Foreign Policy
  • International Law and Organizations

Internship Semester in Washington, DC

Another option for students is to intern for the experience of working in Washington, DC, whether it be interning on the Hill or for a private company or other government agency.

With some help from CBBS, students would find the internship and housing on their own. The student can sign up for CCINT class through the Career Center, so that the internship will be documented on their transcripts and he/she will remain a full time student at Clemson.
