Kerry B. McTigue

Kerry B. McTigue was recently named as a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP. He practices in Columbia in the areas of complex pharmaceutical litigation, ERISA defense, government contracts, procurement, and product liability litigation. A member of the South Carolina Bar and the Kentucky Bar Association, McTigue is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for South Carolina.

McTigue has been lead trial counsel for various corporate entities in state, federal, and administrative proceedings. He also practices in front of the South Carolina Public Service Commission.

Prior to joining the firm, McTigue served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Generals Corps as a trial counsel and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Civil Law and Litigation Division. There he acted as the principal advisor to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Division for all installation civilian prosecutions for the Western District of Missouri. Before serving on active duty, McTigue was associated with a Kentucky law firm where he practiced in the areas of product liability, estate planning, and education law. He has served as adjunct law professor at several colleges and universities where he has taught courses in the law.

McTigue earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1996. During law school, he received a CALI award for excellence in litigation, served as articles editor of the Journal of Natural Resources and Environmental Law, and was selected as a member of the International Moot Court Team. In 1993, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management, cum laude, from Clemson University, where he was designated a Distinguished Military Graduate. As a student, he represented the College of Business & Behavioral Science in two ways. While at Clemson, McTigue was enrolled in the ROTC Scholarship Program. In addition, he impressively completed his undergraduate Financial Management degree in three years. He is married to Amy Johnson McTigue who is also a Clemson University graduate. They have four children.
