Frances Kennedy, professor of accounting, received the 2006 International Federation of Accountants’ Award of Merit for her distinguished contribution to the field of finance and management. Kennedy also received the 2006 Institute of Management Accounting’s Lybrand Silver Medal for outstanding contributions to management accounting literature.
Colonel Lance S. Young, AFROTC Detachment 770 Commander, received the Air Force Association’s National Arnold Air Society Distinguished Service Award for 2006.
Daniel Benjamin was named Distinguished Alumni Professor of Economics, May 2006
Cotton M. Lindsay obtained an award for the 3rd consecutive year of three fellowships for Economics PhD students from the Earhart Foundation, worth over $100,000 annually
John Warner was nominated for the Eugene G. Fubini Award for exceptional contributions to the U.S. Defense Department, in recognition of his research, June 2006.
Varun Grover received the 2006 Stan Hardy Award for “Examining the Impact of Interorganizational Systems on Process Efficiency and Sourcing Leverage in Buyer-Supplier Dyads.”
Marty Williams, director of Clemson’s cooperative education program and lecturer in the management department, was named 2006 Alumni Master Teacher, an award for outstanding undergraduate classroom instruction.
Larry Fredendall, Tina Robbins, and Xingxing Zu (a recent doctoral graduate) received the Chan K. Han Best Paper Award from the Operations Management Division at the Academy of Management conference for their paper, “Organizational Culture and Quality Practices in Six Sigma.”
Laura Olson, professor of political science, was named the Religion and Politics Section Program Chair for the Southwestern Political Science Association’s 2007 annual meeting in Albuquerque. She was also the invited speaker at the Interfaith Alliance’s “Navigating the Intersection of Religion and Politics Town Hall Meeting in Pittsburgh, table leader at the annual AP U.S. Government and Politics Reading at Colorado State University.
June Pilcher, professor of psychology, received the Senior Scholar Research Excellence Award from the College of Business and Behavioral Science.
Sarah Winslow-Bowe, a new faculty member in sociology, won the 2006 Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award from the American Sociological Association Family Section for her paper “The Persistence of Wives’ Income Advantage.” The paper is forthcoming in the Journal of Marriage and Family.
Helena Douglas, Executive Director of the Department of Professional Advancement and Continuing Education, has accepted an invitation to serve on the President’s Commission on the Status of Women at Clemson University.
Anne Copeland of the Department of Professional Advancement and Continuing Education was named Outstanding Continuing Education Administrative Professional by The South Carolina Association for Higher Continuing Education.
