· Follow through on actions identified during each advising session
· Accept final responsibility for all decisions
· Help students define and develop realistic educational and career plans
· Assist students in planning an academic program consistent with their abilities and interests
· Assist advisees in identifying career opportunities
· Interpret and provide rationale for instructional policies, procedures, and requirements
· Approve all designated educational transactions (e.g., schedule, drops and adds, withdrawals, change of major, waivers, graduation requirements)
· Monitor progress toward educational and career goals
· Inform students of administrative, academic, and personal services and resources available to them
· Refer students when academic or personal problems require intervention by other professionals
· Protect the privacy of student information as set forth in The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99)
