Professor of Marketing
Dr. Pickett’s research interest resides in the area of sport and services marketing. He has consulted for a variety of economic concerns including private business, regional economic centers and educational institutions. His research has been recognized for its quality and contribution to the Marketing discipline by national associations and prestigious journals.

Charles R. Duke, Ph.D.
Director - Brand Tracking & Marketing Research
Professor of Marketing
Much of Dr. Duke's external service work has focused on facilitating and helping to implement programs for businesses, communities, and nonprofit agencies. His extensive experience includes working as an analyst and manager in product services engineering, strategic and financial planning, as well as economic forecasting. His business experience spans the spectrum from helping small businesses to working with international corporations in acquisition, divestitures, capital budgeting, and strategic management.
Stephen J. Grove, Ph.D.
Director - Service Leadership
Professor of Marketing
Dr. Grove is an internationally recognized scholar in the field of services. He is the co-author of the widely adopted textbook, Interactive Services Marketing, and has published over 100 papers on the subject of services. He is also past-President of the American Marketing Association’s Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) and currently a member of the American Marketing Association’s Academic Council.
James Hawdon, Ph.D.
Director - Public Policy
Associate Professor of Sociology
Dr. Hawdon has been overseeing telephone survey projects for over a decade. He has fielded surveys for the U.S. Department of Wildlife, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, the Society for Human Resource Management, Fortune Magazine, the National Funding Collaborative on Violence Prevention and a host of other agencies and organizations. Jim's substantive research focuses on the relationship between social capital, policing, and crime. He also researches cross-cultural patterns of drug use.
John D. Mittelstaedt, Ph.D.
Director - Customer Creation, Relations & Retention
Associate Professor of Marketing
Dr. Mittelstaedt’s research focuses on consumers’ acquisition of information, segmentation of consumers, international marketing, and client retention in the services industry. His research has been published in widely recognized marketing journals and he has served as a liaison and contact for various organizations worldwide.
James Witte , Ph.D.
Director - Survey Operations & Methods
Associate Professor of Sociology
Dr. Witte is a leader in the developing field of web based survey research. His work in this area has been funded by the National Science Foundation and has been featured on the National Geographic Society’s home page. He also oversees operations of the CAMSS’ computer assisted telephone interview (CATI) facility. Jim’s substantive research focuses on labor markets in the US and Germany using household panel data. He has also provided expert witness services for a number of federal discrimination cases.

Catherine Mobley, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Sociology
Dr. Mobley has research expertise in several areas including environmental attitudes and behaviors and medical and health-related behaviors. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods of research, she is currently researching how environmental attitudes shape consumer and political behaviors. Catherine has also conducted research on several health-related topics, including the use of complementary and alternative medicine and predictors of nutrition and food-related behaviors. She has provided research and evaluation expertise to a variety of agencies including local United Ways agencies, Anderson Area Medical Center, and the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Center.
