

Bill Masters and Joe Turner were honored at the annual Celebration of Clemson Alumni Entrepreneurs event which was held at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville. The Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership presented the awards before an audience of approximately 300 students, faculty, and business leaders.
Masters was the owner and founder of Perception Kayaks and holds over 30 patents in boat design, plastics manufacturing, computers and heat transfer. Turner is one of the Wendy's largest franchise owners with 50 restaurants in the Southeast, and his company is among the 100 largest privately held businesses in South Carolina. Turner and Masters stressed the importance of treating people in their organizations with respect and fairness while offering them opportunities to grow and succeed. Masters noted that his secret formula for success was “smart, hard work” while Turner identified the two key characteristics of successful entrepreneurs as “perseverance and integrity.”
