Survey2000 Data
The Survey2000 questionnaire uses computer assisted interviewing  techniques that allows for use of complex question skip patterns and questionnaire customization. The result is a survey instrument that  minimizes respondent burden and tailors survey content based on  information collected during the course of the questionnaire.  However  the richness and complexity of the data collection is mirrored in the  data file structure. Supporting documentation for the potential users should start by downloading the overview paper and tables. The detailed Survey2000 codebook should be consulted before working with the data.

The Survey2000 data is being distributed as two SPSS portable files, one with data from adult respondents and the other with data from youth respondents (ages 5 through 15). These files have been compressed using Winzip, a data archive utility to reduce download times. Even after compression these files remain quite large (approximately 20 megabytes for the adult data and 8 megabytes for the youth data). Before use they need to be decompressed and will  expand to approximately 80 megabytes and 20 megabytes respectively. Use of the data requires that you have access to the SPSS software system. To avoid unnecessary download time, do not download unless you have the SPSS base software.  The Survey2000 data set is complex as well as large. Documentation files describing the data and its structure should be downloaded and read to ensure proper use of the data.  For further information contact Jim Witte at 864-656-3816 or jwitte@clemson.edu.
