Dr. Newkirk teaches undergraduate courses in operations management. He has fourteen years of experience in industry with Babcock & Wilcox, Burlington Industries, and Marzoli (Italy). Dr. Newkirk received a Purchasing Management Grant in 1992 to study purchasing competencies for practitioners.

Dr. Newkirk is the recipient of the 1999-00 COBPA Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award.
