Dr. LaForge teaches and conducts research in the field of
operations planning and control. He established Clemson's Manufacturing Management Laboratory,
a teaching and research facility that provides students hands-on experience with
state-of-the art manufacturing resource planning software. He has received national awards
from the Decision Sciences Institute for instructional
innovation and the Academy of Business Administration for excellence in teaching. In
addition, his work in the Manufacturing Management Laboratory has attracted over
$1,000,000 in hardware and software support from industry.
Dr. LaForge has coauthored four books and published
numerous articles in refereed journals including Decision Sciences, Journal
of Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, Academy
of Management Journal, and many others. He is an associate editor of the Journal
of Operations Management, and serves on the editorial board of Production and
Inventory Management Journal and Computers and Operations Research.
Dr. LaForge was named 1995 South Carolina Professor
of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In
addition, he is a recipient of the Class of 1939 Award for Excellence,
the highest faculty honor at Clemson University. In 1996 Dr. LaForge was named a Fellow
of the Decision Sciences Institute for his scholarly contributions to the field
of operations management. |
