hc@clemson.edu Henry Clark is the Hayek Visiting Scholar in residence at the Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism for the 2009–10 Academic Year.Clark is a professor of history at Canisius College. He is the author of La Rochefoucauld and the Language of Unmasking in Seventeenth-Century France and Compass of Society: Commerce and Absolutism in Old-Regime France and he is the editor of Commerce, Culture, and Liberty: Readings on Capitalism Before Adam Smith.
