Training Officer, MAJ Ernest E. Morrow

Major Ernest Elbert Morrow joined us in January 2008 from Furman University where he was a Police Officer.

After a short break following his graduation from the University of South Carolina in 1974, he started his Army career by enlisting in the infantry in May 1975. After completion of Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, he graduated from Airborne school and attended the Special Forces Qualification course. He then joined the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group at Ft. Bragg NC. MAJ Morrow remained there until he re-enlisted with orders to the JFK Institute for Military Assistance (now Special Operations Command). He was attached to the scuba committee in Key West, Florida as a scuba school instructor in May 1978. Following that assignment, MAJ Morrow received a direct commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry.

Upon completion of the Infantry Officer Basic course in November 1982 he was the committee Chief for the Infantry Training Group at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He quickly followed that with Platoon Leader and Executive Officer time with the 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment, also at Ft. Benning.

After a short hiatus he rejoined the Army as the A Detachment Commander in B Company, 3rd Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group in 1986. That assignment was followed by his Executive Officer time with A Company, 3rd Battalion, 11th Special Forces Group in Tampa Bay, Florida until February 1993. MAJ Morrow then moved again to Charlotte, North Carolina to be the S-4 and eventually the Executive Officer for the 337th Military Intelligence Battalion from February 1993 to October 1994. He then separated from the Army until March 2008 when he came to the Fightin’ Tiger Battalion.
