Transfer
Students
Students
who anticipate transferring to Clemson may estimate the credit hours
they will receive for their transferred work by referencing the degree
curriculum (see link below) and the Transfer Course Equivalency List
(see link below). Courses which have been transferred to Clemson that
have been awarded Clemson credit appear on the Transfer Course Equivalency
List. To use the list, click on the alphabetic letter corresponding
to the first letter in the college or university's name. For example,
if you are looking for Wofford College, click on "W". An
alphabetic list of college and universities whose names begin with
"W" will appear. Scroll down until you find the school from
which you wish to transfer courses. Click on that school. An alphabetic
list of course rubrics and numbers will appear followed by the current
Clemson equivalent. Courses remain on the list for five years. After
five years they must be reevaluated for equivalency.
The
Transfer Course Equivalency List includes only the courses that have
been transferred to Clemson in the last five years. Other courses
may be transferable. Course equivalents are evaluated during Transfer
Student Orientation which takes place twice during the summer and
once at the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters. It is
the responsibility of each teaching department to evaluate course
equivalency against the courses they teach. For example, the Director
of the School of Accountancy evaluates accounting and business law
course equivalencies; the Chair of Financial Management evaluates
finance course equivalencies, etc.
Clemson
does not grant transfer equivalency credit for upper division level
(junior/senior - 300/400) course work taken at institutions who offer
only associate degrees. "Upper division" is evaluated in
terms of the Clemson numbering system. For example, Intermediate Financial
Accounting I at Clemson is numbered ACCT 311. Therefore, Intermediate
Accounting I taken at a technical or junior college is not transferable
to Clemson.
Generally,
you will enroll under the curriculum in effect at the time you enter
Clemson. Each fall, the curriculum for the current academic year is
published by the university in the Undergraduate Announcements.
Students who have been continuously enrolled (each fall and spring
semester since they entered the school from which they are transferring
-- no breaks) may elect to use the curriculum that was in effect at
the time they entered that school.
