MPAcc Degree Program


MPAcc Prerequisites

I. a 4-year baccalaureate degree,

II. 30 semester hours of business coursework including, but not limited to:

  • principles of accounting,
  • business law,
  • economics,
  • finance,
  • management,
  • marketing,

and

III. 18 semester hours of upper division accounting, specifically:

  • 6 semester hours of intermediate financial accounting,
  • accounting information systems,
  • auditing,
  • cost/managerial accounting,
  • individual income taxation,
  • marketing

A full-time student meeting all prerequisites may complete the program in one calendar year.



MPAcc Degree Requirements

33 credit hours

To receive the MPAcc degree, students must complete the following with a minimum GPR of 3.00/4.00 on all undergraduate and graduate coursework taken after admission to graduate study:

I. a 15 semester hour core that incldues:

3 - ACCT 804 Environment of Accounting
3 - ACCT 806 Advanced Accounting Problems
3 - LAW 801 Law for Professional Accountants
3 - FIN 832 International Financial Management
3 - Elective Non-accounting business-related course chosen coordinator's consent

II. success in ACCT 8991,

and

III. an 18 semester hour specialization in either assurance and management services2 or taxation3


1 ACCT 899, a zero credit course, is graded on a credit/no credit basis and does not contribute hours toward degree completion. Successful completion of the course is required, before the MPAcc degree is awarded. ACCT 899 is preparation for the professional examination of the student's choice (Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or Certified Internal Auditor). Students are required to register for the course in their first semester of the program. They receive an incomplete until they demonstrate passing exam scores.
